Druid Hills Homes

Druid Hills is referred to as Atlanta’s “second suburb” and, over time, it has become one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the state of Atlanta. The area was established by Joel Hurt and developed during the late 19th century and into the early 20th century. Hurt was on a mission to create the “perfect suburb,” and he had help designing Druid Hills from the famous architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed landscapes for Capitol Hill and Central Park.

The area is located approximately five miles from the downtown core, offering a great balance between a bustling, busy lifestyle and a quiet, friendly neighborhood. The distance from the downtown core makes it very accessible and perfect for families.

Local areas of employment include Emory University, the Fernbank Forest and Recreation Center, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Home to a tight-knit community, the residents of Druid Hills homes have a Druid Hills Civic Association, which works to maintain the neighborhood’s history, safety, and integrity. The association helps residents to meet new friends, schedule play dates, and coordinate festivities and events for the neighborhood.

Although the charming homes in the neighborhood are a highlight, outdoor elements like the Olmstead Linear Park are also a popular location to hike, picnic, and relax. The park is made up of six segments and covers 50 acres of land.
