Atlanta is one of the most fun and exciting up-and-coming cities in the United States, so it’s no surprise to us if you want to live here! Whether you’re new to town or just looking for a change, Historic Brookhaven should be one of the first places you explore for your newest home. Here are six reasons why.
A Lot of Exciting Media Is Being Created Here
One of the coolest parts of living in the Historic Brookhaven district is that you will be living right in the middle of America’s next Hollywood. That’s right: The Atlanta metro area and surrounding towns have become the location of the third largest film and television industry in the world.
Countless movies and shows—such as The Hunger Games, Stranger Things, various Marvel movies, and more—have made their home in and near Atlanta. Brookhaven is no exception. Starz Remorse Productions filmed multiple scenes in the district a few years ago. Just this February, I, Tonya, a biopic about Tonya Harding, was filmed in the neighborhood.
Living in Historic Brookhaven offers film buffs and casual moviegoers alike the opportunity to witness the creation of some of the century’s biggest blockbuster hits.
Family Life Is Easy Here
Aside from being a safe and relatively affluent neighborhood, this district and its amenities make raising a family here easy. The Brookhaven Moms Club, for instance, makes it simple for mothers to work with each other to create a fun neighborhood for their friends and family. The group regularly organizes Moms Nights Out, and they have hosted numerous holiday parties and events, including Santa Claus family parties, Easter Egg hunts for kids, and a Holiday Couples’ Party.
The neighborhood also regularly participates in philanthropic endeavors, such as having kids craft friendship bracelets with other children at the Genesis House shelter home in Atlanta.
You Can Join the Neighborhood as a Bona Fide Member
People looking for a new residence where they can truly enjoy the perks of a well-integrated community will find a home as a member of the HBNA, Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association. The benefits of purchasing a membership include relationships with the local political representatives, the ability to have your voice heard in community politics, and free participation in many neighborhood activities.
Proximity to Many of Atlanta’s Best Cultural Institutions
As one of the South’s largest and oldest cities, Atlanta is home to a great many cultural, social, and historical landmarks and institutions. Anyone living in Brookhaven will find themselves within a short distance of some of the best art and literature pickings the city has to offer.
These include the Arts at Emory, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the High Museum of Art, the Atlanta History Center, and the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art. Each of these institutions host a lively, year-round events calendar, allowing Brookhaven residents many diverse, fulfilling activities to choose from.
Philanthropy Is in Full Swing Here
Brookhaven Friends is a community-wide organization which seeks to spread their services throughout the Atlanta area and surrounding community. The volunteers work constantly to offer their time and raise funds in support of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The annual Brookhaven Street Party works in conjunction with the Fun Run, Tot Parade, and Cake Walk, while volunteers in December help to decorate mailboxes around the neighborhood with seasonal decorations, ribbons, and greens to get the community in the holiday spirit.
During the Spring Auction, adults can take part in a silent auction complete with live entertainment and a night of dinner and drinks, while volunteers with a passion for green living and sustainability can help with the Plant Sale to help sell off gift certificates for Pikes Nurseries.
