With the holidays on the way, one of the easiest and budget-friendly things to do with friends and family is to check out all of the festive lights. While lots of cities put together parks and displays for their residents to enjoy, sometimes it is best just exploring the surrounding neighborhoods and appreciating the work of your neighbors!
For those looking to appreciate the holiday lights of their fellow Midtown residents, consider this list of the best Atlanta neighborhoods for holiday lights.
One of the most popular stops for family and friends alike is “Christmas in the Grove” located in the Decatur neighborhood at 1428 Oak Grove Dr. The project began innocently enough; however, the homeowners have quietly garnered more and more attention for their neighborhood as the displays and details became larger, louder, and brighter!
Their holiday lights have grown from simple animation in 2010 to adding music, choreographed lighting, and more! The home was featured on an episode of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” in 2013 and boasts over 115,000 lights, 80 lighted candy canes, two 12-ft. trees, and 2 laser image projectors.
With the growing number of visitors, the family now accepts donations, with 100% of the proceeds going to the ALS Association of Georgia to help find a cure for Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Those making the trek to see the festive lights can also enjoy displays from other homes in the area and make an evening out of the holiday adventure. For Christmas-lovers who enjoy getting into the holiday spirit, the Decatur neighborhood is the best place to be!
