Atlanta is an exceptional city to call home. The fast city lifestyle meets Southern charm culture causes people from all over the country to move and call Atlanta home. With plenty of attractions, delicious dining, cultural events, job opportunities, and constant construction for new houses, it’s not hard to see the appeal this southern city has to offer.

What’s even better is there is something for everyone here! From the young professional, to the families, to those looking to settle down, there is a neighborhood for you! Whether you are looking for a home ITP (inside the perimeter) or OTP (outside the perimeter) you are sure to find a neighborhood that suits your lifestyle and needs.

One of the most notable aspects of Atlanta is the booming metro area. In fact, the metro area has grown so much, I could go on and on about the different neighborhoods. However, I want you to fall in love with Atlanta. This means you need a glimpse inside one of the area’s best locations to call home. In this post, I’m going to give you the scoop on Smyrna.

Smyrna Spotlight

Smyrna is located northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County. While Smyrna does lie within the Atlanta metropolitan area, it’s conveniently located just one mile from Atlanta’s city limit and 10 miles from Downtown. Being so close to the city has its major benefits, especially for those who don’t want to necessarily let go of the big city life just yet.

While Smyrna is close to major highways, I-75 and I-285, you can still get into the city without getting on 75, which, if you’re from the area, you will know is a huge plus. Those who do commute into the city for work will be happy to find that the average commute is 26 minutes.

The quick drive into the city, whether for work or play, is what draws so many young professionals who are looking to start a family. Smyrna is a great place to raise children, as it is a quieter area than the big city. The excellent schools, access to many parks, and the abundance of recreational sports teams all contribute to the great quality of family life.

The city’s center, or Market Village, was created to give a village feel to the community. The Village boasts a wide range of restaurants, retail, and fun events for those days when you don’t want to leave the community for fun things to do.

However, if you do want to find fun day trip activities, you are in a perfect location! Smyrna is close to fun activities such as the Chattahoochee River, Cobb Galleria, Cumberland Mall, and the new Braves Stadium in Cobb County, which will give families plenty to do. You’re also a quick drive from attractions in the city, such as Zoo Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, The Fox Theater, and the Georgia Aquarium.

Meanwhile, you don’t have to sacrifice your job, family/friends, or the cultural events and nightlife that Atlanta has to offer. In Smyrna, you’ll truly find the perfect balance of city and suburban life.
